Tree Overview:

This terrific Red Maple is most widely known for its intense crimson red fall color which persists even under less than ideal circumstances.  The color lasts much later into the fall than most other Red Maples. A red tinge can be found in its twigs, flowers,  and seeds as well. It has a round/oval shape.  A perfect focal point for your front yard!

Care details

Red Maples are more tolerant to wet planting environments than any other Maple species.  They are also tolerant of black walnut toxicity.  Avoid planting in soil with high pH levels. Does not tolerate pollution or droughts.  Water deeply and regularly during first few growing seasons to establish an extensive root system. Once established, reduce frequency. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. Pruning time is in the winter.

Leaf/needle description

Opposing leaves; most leaves are 4″ long and wide.  3 to 5 lobes, irregularly toothed, with red stems.  Leaves emerge with a red tinge but deepen to dark green.

Fruit are winged seeds in pairs about 1 to 2″ long that ripen in spring.
