Care details

Provide average, well-drained soil. Best color in full sun, tolerates light shade. Water deeply and regularly during first few growing seasons to establish an extensive root system. Once established, reduce frequency; tolerates moderate drought. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. Pruning time is in the winter.

Leaves (to 7” across) have five sharply pointed lobes and resemble those of sugar maple. Leaf stems exude a milky sap when cut.
