The Ace of Hearts Redbud is a pocket-sized version of the beloved native Eastern Redbud tree. This dwarf tree has all the great attributes of its big sisters—soft purple flowers on zigzag branches in spring, clear yellow foliage in fall—but on a compressed framework.

Care details

This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and shouldn’t be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments, and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location. Water regularly – weekly, or more often in extreme heat.

Grayish green foliage throughout the season. The oval leaves turn yellow in fall. The fruit is not ornamentally significant.

Ace Of Hearts Redbud has pink pea-like flowers along the branches from early to mid spring, which emerge from distinctive rose flower buds before the leaves.
